Bands are receiving unprecedented levels of hype, thanks to the confluence of Internet file-sharing, blogs, and social networking sites like MySpace. But when does simple publicity become over-hype? Also: the so-called "barefoot diva," Cesaria Evora. From her tiny island nation of Cape Verde, she has exported songs of longing all over the world.
