Can politically oriented music influence anyone’s vote? The subject seems more timely than ever. Today we take listener’s calls on this question as we’re joined by guests that have a particular familiarity with the topic. Sasha Frere-Jones, pop music critic of the New Yorker is in studio. He’ll be moderating a panel at the upcoming New Yorker Festival on the topic of “Political Rockers,” looking at whether they exist and what their real influence is these days.

And we’ll speak with composer Philip Glass and Nadine Strossen, president of the ACLU about freedom of expression in the arts, and musician’s activism in protecting their rights.
