Play it Cool, Boy

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Fourteen years after his passing, musicians just can't seem to get enough of composer, conductor and Broadway legend Leonard Bernstein. George Steel, executive director of the Miller Theater, is a former student of Bernstein's, and has chosen to open the hall’s fall season with a concert featuring many of Bernstein's lesser-known works, including a New York premiere. He joins us to shed some light on Bernstein’s legacy. We also visit with young superstar violinist Hilary Hahn, whose latest CD finds her in a British frame of mind, playing the elegant music of Elgar and Vaughan-Williams. And as movie buffs may know, she's also on the soundtrack of M. Night Shyamalan's newest flick, "The Village."
