Czech Mate

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Although a large festival of his work has just gotten underway in upstate New York, many consider Czech composer Leos Janacek to be underappreciated. Well, get ready for an education today, when Czech music specialist Michael Beckerman stops by the Soundcheck studio for a conversation about Janecek, one of the most original opera composers of the 20th century. Also, Mostly Mozart Festival music director, conductor Louis Langree, will be by the studio to give us an update on the start of this summer's festival and tomorrow night's opening gala simulcast on WNYC.
