What’s the MATA?

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
The 2003 MATA Festival has arrived, as dozens of young and old composers and musicians descend upon New York. This five-day festival features 15 premieres of new work, music by 26 living composers (perhaps a new record for classical music), sound art installations and much more. We are visited today by a handful of the organizers and composers you can hear this week. Also, the conductor responsible for some of the great performances of modern compositions, Bradley Lubman, drops by, as does Ben Ratliff from the New York Times for the concert pick of the week.
