Alan Lomax, who spearheaded folk revivals in the United States and across Europe, passed away July 19, 2002 at age 87. More about Alan Lomax. This week Steve Post hosts a special one-hour tribute to the life and work of Alan Lomax, the legendary collector of folk music who died last summer and whose achievements are being celebrated in concerts and lectures throughout the City this weekend. Steve features many artists first recorded by Lomax in his extensive travels throughout the United States and the world, including Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, and Woody Guthrie.
