The Music of Shel Silverstein

Soundcheck | Jul 29, 2011

Best known for his children’s books, Shel Silverstein was also a chart-topping songwriter. His songs have been performed by Marianne Faithful, Dr. Hook and Kris Kristofferson, but his greatest hit was recorded by Johnny Cash in 1969. Mitch Myers, who oversees the Shel Silverstein Archive in Chicago, joins us for a look at the boy behind “A Boy Named Sue.”

On Saturday August 6th, Central Park Summer Stage will host "Shelebration! A tribute to the works of Shel Silverstein." More information here.
