The Freeze Tag and Nitty Scott, MC

Soundcheck | Jun 29, 2011

We kick off our Soundcheck Mic Check with two diverse hip hop acts that share a common borough - The Freeze Tag and Nitty Scott, MC.

Brooklyn MC Bisco Smith and bi-coastal producer Cassettes Won’t Listen recently teamed up to create a new project called The Freeze Tag. The collaboration recently released their first EP, titled “Hamster Kid,” which tells the story of a young antihero who makes the transition from an oppressive underground to the freedom of the big city. The duo joined us live in the Greene Space for a performance accompanied by the animated music videos that were created for each of the EP’s tracks.

Nitty Scott MC may be only 20 years old -- but the Michigan-born, Florida-raised, Brooklyn-bred storyteller digs deep into the golden age of hip hop on her new mixtape, The Cassette Chronicles. A standout female voice in an overwhelmingly male playing field, this art school grad and avid freestyler brought her socially conscious rhymes live to The Greene Space.
