The remaining Republican presidential candidates — Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum — will debate in Florida on Thursday evening. A new CNN poll shows the two frontrunners, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, are in a dead heat, with Romney leading Gingrich 36 percent to 34 percent. The primary is less than a week away, and the stakes are high. The winner-takes-all state has 50 delegates — more than Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina combined.

In what could amount to the biggest scandal ever to hit college football former booster Nevin Shapiro is now serving 20 years in federal prison for his role in a $930 million ponzi scheme. Shapiro is accused of providing University of Miami college football players with prostitutes, cars and other gifts over the past eight years. If the allegations prove true they may prove to be the most significant in NCAA history. And it could have insurmountable consequences for the Miami football program.

The Politico reported this morning that former President Bill Clinton urged Rep. Kendrick Meek to quit his bid for the Senate and endorse Florida Governor Charlie Crist. According to the story, Clinton told Meek that Crist, a former Republican turned independent, had a better chance of winning the three-way race against Tea Party Republican Marco Rubio if Meek dropped out.
