The Obama administration is set to release its National Security Strategy today. It is expected to take a sharp turn away from the doctrines President George W. Bush, which focused security on fighting terrorism, even if that meant acting unilaterality. According to The New York Times, the strategy says that "preserving American leadership in the world hinges on learning to accept and manage the rise of many competitors."

Team USA Roster Set For World Cup

The last seven players were cut from Team USA's soccer team yesterday, and the final 23 man roster is now set. With the FIFA World Cup just over two weeks away, Takeaway's sports contributor, Ibrahim Abdul-Matin sees if Team USA stands a chance. Hattie McDaniel's Missing Oscar

Hattie McDaniel became the first African-American to win an Academy Award for her role as Mammy, in the 1939 classic, "Gone with the Wind."  The question that's been asked for decades is, "where is her Oscar?" Nobody knows. The award was bequeathed to Howard University's drama department after her death of breast cancer in 1952. Washington Post reporter Josh Freedom du Lac, has been following this story, and he joins us to share his findings.

Day 36, and oil is still gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. Volunteers from all over the country are heading to the shores of Louisiana and Mississippi to help in any way they can. A lot of these volunteers are training to save and clean animals that have been affected by the oil, particularly birds, whose oil-soaked feathers prevent them from flying and keeping warm.

Thousands of gallons of oil are still spewing each day from leaking pipes at the Deepwater Horizon's wellhead in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil has touched land along the coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi and is headed for other coastlines along the Gulf. The amount of wildlife affected has been minimal so far, but more damage seems inevitable.

Financial Overhaul Passes the Senate

After months of debate and attacks from both sides of the aisle, the Senate passed a financial regulatory bill by a 59-39 vote, Thursday. The biggest change in the bill is the creation of an agency whose sole job is to monitor fairness of any product that is bought by the consumer. Next, the Senate and House versions of financial reform have to be reconciled and combined before heading to the president's desk, perhaps as early as the Fourth of July.

'Los Suns' Take the Court in Protest

Instead of their usual jerseys, the Phoenix Suns wore shirts with "Los Suns" inscribed across the chest as they played the Spurs last night. This change in wardrobe was explicitly meant as a nod in support of Arizona's Latino population, and a protest to Arizona's new immigration law, signed by Governor Jan Brewer last week.
