Alex Samawicz

Alex Samawicz studied trumpet under Mark Gould, Rex Richardson, and Lyle Steelman, among others. Alex attended the Virginia Commonwealth University where he was awarded the degree Bachelor of Music and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music.

A native of Virginia, Alex has played in groups such as the Old Dominion Brass Band, Richmond Brass Consort, Festival Brass, Richmond Pops, Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra, and the Theatre IV/Barksdale Theatre Company. In New York City, Alex plays with One World Symphony, Park Avenue Chamber Orchestra, and the Grad Center Contemporary Music Ensemble. Alex has participated in several conferences and music festivals such as Brevard Music Center (where he was a teaching assistant), Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, and the International Trumpet Guild 2007 conference. Alex was a semi-finalist in the National Trumpet Competition in 2007 and 2008, and was artist-in-residence at the Trinity College (UK) Brass festival 2008.
