The first impression I had of Alison's drawing was that the young woman was trying to climb out of a hole. Then I thought, "Well, if that's my first impression, it'll be EVERYONE'S first impression." So I dug deeper, and found that, by turing the drawing a bit, I could change the impression from one that she is pulling herself up, to one that she is PUSHING something else up and away from herself -- or perhaps propping whatever it was up. The rest was obvious.
