Drink summer nights
Corked with the rising moon;
Remember this moment is ephemeral
As you wipe time from your cracked lips.
Stars will slide down your throat
And whisper constellations to the bird caged
In your voice box
Listen to the summer rain pattering in your chest,
Your green heart satiated with wildflowers
August breathed into you;
Soon September will pick them one by one.
Stars will ignite your veins
And sing fire to the volcano dying
In your core
Inhale the shrinking summer air
Ticking away with the falling moon;
Remember this moment is ephemeral
As you let time close your tired eyes.
