She was the sun, silver
and white-hot, burning.
Summer kisses on
white and red checkered
arms, steaming asphalt.
Salty waters and salty tears,
an ocean of orbital pull.
Her touch was everything
and nothing; it spoke of
oblivion, tar and sulfur,
and always, always,
brightness—like the sun.
