It also carries other mythologies such as the spiritual power of nature vs. the dominion of human beings, and the settlement of the west vs. the romance of the wandering nomad. And the passionate emotions it evokes remain current today as ranchers face off against environmentalists, and advocates for public lands and animal rights and welfare.
