Niladri Kumar at NY Society for Ethical Culture

Nov. 5 | 8 pm | $47.70

Indian sitarist Niladri Kumar was a protégé of the late globetrotting musician Zakir Hussain, the master of the tuned Indian hand drums known as tabla. When Zakir first brought Niladri Kumar to our studio ten years ago, the young musician was at the start of his career. Now, he’s being called “The Hendrix of the Sitar,” and like his mentor, he collaborates with both Indian and Western musicians. He’s now performing some of the works he and Zakir used to play; tonight, on November 5, at the NY Society for Ethical Culture, and tomorrow night, November 6, at NJPAC in Newark.

Be alert for scams. WNYC never asks for nor accepts money for coverage or interviews. Anyone making such a request does not represent WNYC.
