In Season: peppers

WNYC News | Sep 18

This Hispanic Heritage Month, peppers are plentiful at local farmstands. Peppers originate from Central and South America, and are used in cuisines around the world.

Amelia Tarpey, Program and Publicity Manager for GrowNYC Greenmarkets, said you can find jalapeño, serrano, bell peppers and more at your local Greenmarket. Amelia recommends stuffing a cubanelle pepper with chorizo and cheese and baking, or pick up some poblano peppers to make Chef Rick Martínez's Rajas con Crema.

Peppers go for between $3 and $8 per pound at local farmstands.
