From the New Sounds Live concert series, hear the GRAMMY-winning electric string quartet ETHEL in a quintet program with composer, flutist, and producer Allison Loggins-Hull, recorded live at Kaufman Music Center’s Merkin Hall in late September 2024.Together, Loggins-Hull and ETHEL have elicited new commissions from early-career composers: Los Angeles-based composer and producer Xavier Muzik, Australian composer Sam Wu, and Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) composer & multimedia artist Leilehua Lanzilotti, a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Loggins-Hull herself contributed her own work, Persist to the project. Also on the program is “The Reconciliation Suite” by Japanese composer, producer, pianist, and bandleader Migiwa “Miggy” Miyajima, which will be part of another New Sounds program.
