The challenges small grocers and bodega owners are facing during the affordability crisis

For the next several months, WNYC will be traveling across the five boroughs to hold a series of community forums where WNYC will hear directly from New Yorkers about how they're navigating the affordability crisis. It's called "In Conservation: The Affordability Series." WNYC's Sean Carlson hosted the first installment at BEM Books and More in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn on Tuesday and it focused on the issue of food affordability.

Francisco Marte is the founder of the Bodega and Small Business Group. Carlson and WNYC's Poverty reporter Karen Yi spoke to him about the challenges small grocers and bodega owners face in the current affordability crisis.
