"Puerto Rican, man. It's a blessing." Anthony Ramos talks being King of the Puerto Rican Day parade

The 69th annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade kicks off this weekend, marching up 5th Avenue on Sunday.

The parade has taken to the streets of New York City since 1958, honoring the contributions of Puerto Ricans across the diaspora.

This year the King of the parade is New York-born actor Anthony Ramos. Ramos has starred onstage in the musical "Hamilton," on screen in movies like "In the Heights" and "A Star is Born." He'll also be performing his newest song, "New York City

Anthony Ramos spoke with WNYC's Morning Edition host Michael Hill.
