What you need to know about heat season this year

"Heat season" is starting this Thursday in New York City, which is when building owners must maintain warm enough temperatures indoors when it gets too cold outside. But the cold truth is that doesn’t always happen. Last winter, the city received tens of thousands of calls about the lack of heat and hot water.

Dina Levy is the commissioner of the city’s Housing Preservation and Development, which is in charge of enforcing the city’s heat laws. She joined WNYC's Sean Carlson to talk more about what you need to know about "heat season."
