New report shows more street lights reduce serious crime in NYC

WNYC News | Jun 18

A new report shows street lighting not only reduces serious crime in New York City, but also creates more street life. That puts more eyes on the ground and helps hinder potentially criminal behavior.

Elizabeth Glazer is the founder of the policy journal Vital City, which just collaborated on and released the report. It’s part of the publication's new initiative called “Rubber Meets Road: Running Cities on Evidence.” She joins WNYC's David Furst to talk more about the report.
