Em Spel - "The Poet" (Soundcheck Podcast)

Em Spel is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. She is also Emily Hospelhorn, a flutist who plays in one of Chicago’s foremost contemporary classical ensembles. As Em Spel she writes surreal but beguiling songs that draw on folk, art rock. and dream pop, and if you listen closely there are hints of her classical background in there as well. Her sophomore solo album is called Bird Or Snake, and Em Spel played this song, called “The Poet,” live in our studio, as part of the latest episode of the Soundcheck Podcast.
