#4876, New Sounds Live: Pamela Z at Merkin Hall
Pamela Z is a composer, vocalist, and multimedia artist, and a pioneer of live digital looping techniques, who uses electronics to create entire sonic tapestries out of her voice. She processes her voice in real time, and combines sampled sound (bubble wrap, an empty water cooler jug) and video to create dense, complex sonic layers. Her solo works combine experimental extended vocal techniques, operatic bel canto, found objects, text, and sampled concrète sounds.
