  • @ Wendy: I agree. Brian is so smart, but perhaps because he is an NPR radio host, and I know NPR provides some of the most balanced news that's available, the need to not appear to have a position as a host gets in the way of getting a straight answer. He did state he position early on in the interview, and I'd hoped he would be a bit more of a tiger in the interview. Anyone with any common sense listening could see that this King had no real response to back up his fierce and disgustingly fearful position that under no circumstances should any laws be enacted to prevent the sale, distribution, and possession of high capacity guns. How many muskets equal the firing power of an Ak-47? Would the Framers and the founding citizens of this country rethink this amendment if they saw their neighbors owning 100 loaded muskets? A musket in every corner of the cabin, under every rock on their land, sitting behind every fence, in every stable and chicken coup. Could you imagine? I am sure the Founding citizens of our country had to deal with gun-nuts too.

  • Service in high end hotels and restaurants has become shockingly worse over the years. It's almost as if the customer has become so important, that they are allowed to do all kinds of things that are intolerable. I worked at the Mark in a JeanGeorges restaurant, and one of the Maitre d's said that a "guest" spit on a hostess when she didn't get the table she wanted. The Maitre d' seemed to think "that's just how it is, and you have to put up with it." I would personally spit back on someone who did that to me.

  • In Medieval times in Germany, there was a post on a raised platform to which they would chain guilty people. That person stood there and the entire town could walk by and shout things at them. It's called a Pranger, and Germans still use the expression "to stand someone in a Pranger." This reminds me of a Medieval Pranger.

  • Office, I have no idea how the Right is able to reconcile this: they scream now that they are all about fiscal responsibility, but this fiscally responsible choice to not bring a fetus to term, is something they fully reject. They scream NO BIG GOVERNMENT, but this issue..? oooooh, then they want the government all up in our jelly. Why don't they just admit it: they want a Church State.

  • What gets missed is that this is a very difficult decision for women to make. Why don't those same people who want to overturn Roe v. Wade, also don't want sex education taught in schools? Get rid of religion, and we get rid of most of the arguments we have in this country

  • Had there been no Roe v Wade, the violent crime spike predicted in the 90's, would have turned this country into a bigger mess. We would have needed MORE tax dollars to support wayward men and women with single mothers who knew they could not bear the awesome responsibility of bringing a human being into this world. Keep YOUR religion off MY body.
