- Teachers and principals KNOW that teaching to the test does not work. It is school boards, superintendents, and chancellors requiring standardized tests for student and teacher measurement that forces teaching to the test!
- Ayn Rand came from the Russian noble class, so everything she had was taken away when Lenin and Stalin came to power. So, of course she thinks social programs are moving the US to a welfare state! She has no idea what true democracy is, nor does she care. She is totally deluded about the US Constitution. What's worse, she has no regard for the social contract. She was a miser that disguised her bile as political philosophy and convinced people to think that self-determination is all they need to lead a productive life. Her followers are dillettantes and hypocrites who were born into priveledge and wealth, and would not know how to survive if they had to live on minimum wage.
- I believe that I've always been a feminist. I was a very independent child and have always strongly stated my thoughts and opinion.
I think I officially adopted the term a few years ago when I had to scramble to the Planned Parenthood office on my lunch break to get a Plan B prescription. That experience made me so angry that I opened my eyes to see that women are still being oppressed, no matter how powerful we become.
- So people in the park will have a nice view of the river front, but the people who live in Brooklyn Heights are out of luck. I am sick of developers trying to build up that section of the waterfront when there are so many others area ripe for development. Please leave Brooklyn Bridge alone.
- Ray, I find your last comment to be highly offensive.
Obesity is a health risk, but even if every obese person in the US lost all of the extra weight tomorrow they may not be "thin".
Calling a group of people an eyesore only increases the stigma of being overweight/obese and signals that it's alright to continue to discriminate.
- It scares me that I was thinking the same way about the US presence in Afghanistan as Newt Gingrich.
- Just because a person "knows his Bible" doesn't give him the right to dictate what I choose to do with my body. And, frankly, Dolan is a perfect example of the paternalism the Roman Catholic Church engages in.
- I'm impressed that Charles Manson made the list.
And don't forget Danzig. Last Carress is pretty darn creepy.
- Finally, Nick Cave. You can't have creepy love songs without Nick Cave.
- Tacopina's final quoted statement in this article is infuriating. How dare he say that she lied? I presume his position is that since he was able to get his clients acquitted of the rape charge that she must have been lying. If that's the case, I guess he won't mind me calling him a lying sociopath just like his clients.
