A Democratic state lawmaker from Brooklyn and his chief of staff were indicted on bribery charges in a Brooklyn court Thursday after the embattled politician was acquitted in another case just last month.

The chief of staff of embattled Assemblyman William Boyland, Jr., was arrested on bribery and conspiracy charges Thursday — the same week the Brooklyn lawmaker was slapped with fresh corruption charges.

It appeared to be business as usual inside the Brooklyn lawmaker William Boyland Jr.'s office a day after he was arrested on bribery charges and — for the second time this year — faced pending federal corruption charges.

Federal prosecutors say William Boyland Jr. allegedly accepted more than $250,000 in bribes, and he is expected to appear in court Tuesday.

Boyland's attorney, Richard Rosenberg, said he had would wait to see what the allegations are before commenting.

The authorities, from the U.S. attorney's office in Brooklyn, say the alleged actions took place over the past two years.

Three weeks ago, a Manhattan jury found the Brooklyn Democrat not guilty of charges alleging he took a no-show job in exchange for doing political favors for a corrupt hospital executive.

Boyland's attorneys argued that money the Assemblyman received from a hospital was legitimate consulting fees instead of bribes.

A day after State Senator Carl Kruger was slapped with corruption charges, some in his Brooklyn district said they're shocked to hear the nine-term lawmaker allegedly accepted more than a $1 million in bribes.
