Musical 'Once' Leads 2012 Tony Award Nominations

On Tuesday, actors Kristin Chenoweth and Jim Parsons announced the nominees for the 66th annual Tony Awards. The musical "Once" got the most nominations -- 11. Both "The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It" got 10 nominations, followed by "Peter and the Starcatcher," which landed nine. Get the full list of nominees here.

Emcee Sean Hayes and attendee Catherine Zeta-Jones were trending in the top 10, despite competition from the NBA Finals, a potential no-hitter in Chicago, and the season premier of True Blood. The revival of August Wilson’s “Fences” received 10 nominations, the musical version of the classic drag comedy “La Cage aux Folles” snapped up 11: the same number as “Fela!” It's a depiction of the life of Nigerian composer and political activist Fela Kuti.
