The government got a boost Monday in its corruption trial against two associates of Comptroller John Liu. The judge appears likely to allow the jury to consider whether former campaign treasurer Jenny Hou is guilty of “conscious avoidance.”

In the trial of Xing "Oliver" Pan and Jia "Jenny" Hou, prosecutors outlined their case Tuesday, saying that it will include evidence from an undercover FBI agent who posed as a wealthy businessman seeking to buy access to John Liu through a campaign donation.

A trial of City Comptroller John Liu's former campaign treasurer and a fundraiser that has seemed to temper enthusiasm for his expected mayoral run got delayed indefinitely Tuesday after one of the defendants was involuntarily hospitalized for treatment of a mental health condition.

A federal judge presiding over the trial of City Comptroller John Liu's former campaign treasurer and a Liu donor has scheduled a conference in the high profile corruption case on Tuesday. The conference may shed some light on why the criminal case was delayed last week.
