Schools Try to Shed 'Turnaround' Title

City education officials say they plan to give an update in October on the 24 struggling schools they wanted to close and re-open over the summer. Those schools are working to improve student achievement, and are eager to recover from the "turnaround" stigma.

Parents Show Support for a Struggling School

Parents and students held a rally on Tuesday outside a Manhattan elementary school in protest of budget cuts and a recent 'F' grade on the school’s annual progress report. Public School 137 is now on list of 20 struggling schools, which some parents see as a sign that the school will be phased out.
