Edwards allegedly used money given to him by wealthy supporters to hide his affair with Rielle Hunter and their subsequent love child while running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. Yesterday, the defense cross-examined Edwards' former aide Andrew Young – who had testified that Edwards directed him to use funds from donors to take care of Ms. Hunter. Kim Severson, Atlanta bureau chief for our partner The New York Times, was in the courtroom yesterday.

Yes, John Edwards is a Dog, But So is This Case

Monday, June 06, 2011

The fact that the government is spending taxpayer money to prove Edwards misused campaign contributions is an ironic waste. The government can't convict John Edwards for being a fool, disgrace to his party or a bad husband.

John and Elizabeth Edwards

Tuesday, December 07, 2010

Elizabeth Edwards passed away today, reopening the public discussion about her relationship with her husband, John Edwards, who fathered a child out of wedlock with a worker on his presidential campaign.

A source who speaks regularly with the family tells me the former politician had a closer relationship with his ailing wife than the public may suspect.

The reports came out today that John E is at Elizabeth's bed. In fact he moved back into their house at Thanksgiving so he could attend to Elizabeth and take care of their kids who are 10 and 12 (he takes them to school, arranges meals etc.) although he still gets castigated as a cad Elizabeth has relied on him to attend to her for months, and he has been at her beck and call.
