Lost Music

Saturday, June 01, 2013

For this New Sounds Program, we’ll listen to intriguing music about being lost, both physically, and in the sense of just having no direction, and not knowing where you’re headed.  From duoJalal, which is violist Kathryn Lockwood and percussionist Yousif Sheronick, hear music by Kenji Bunch, an entire suite called “Lost & Found.”

The Pulse of Minimalism

Saturday, July 30, 2011

The pulsing rhythms of minimalism, as heard in the music of English composer Michael Nyman, and fellow Brit Jeremy Peyton-Jones.  Plus there's music from trombonist/composer Paul Bailey and the "alt-classical garage band" Paul Bailey Ensemble.  It's possible that we'll also hear from guitarist Dominic Frasca and his takeoff of music based on Philip Glass, and more.
