Recorded this past May at the Chelsea Art Museum, the 10th annual Look & Listen Festival hit the ground running with a comprehensive opening night program of contemporary art music by Michael Gordon, Phillip Glass, Julia Wolfe, Sofia Gubaidulina, Jason Treuting and Jan Radzynski. This is the first of four concerts from the recent 2011 edition, and you can hear the rest throughout the month of August, every Sunday right here on Cued Up.

In this June 29 performance, the long-standing and famously accomplished International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) joins forces with the explosive and progressive JACK Quartet as a send-off to their performances at the the International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt, Germany. The two new music giants perform works by Earl Brown, Caleb Burhans, Jason Eckhardt and Yoshiaki Onishi.

For the first time after two sold out seasons, the Tribeca New Music Festival moves to uptown host Merkin Hall with a series of performances presented by the New York Art Ensemble. But the festival will keep its downtown feel, featuring the JACK Quartet performing an eclectic concert of six composers, New York Art Ensemble Monsters! performing a work by Phillip Glass, new media artist Luke Dubois collaborating with vocal quartet New York Polyphony, Pamela Z and Bora Yoon and a night of exciting composer/performer acts.
