Financial 411: Bloomberg Says City Faces $600 Billion Shortfall

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city's deficit has grown from $2.3 billion to $4.6 billion because of the end of economic stimulus money from Washington, and expected cuts in aid from Albany — which is struggling with an even steeper deficit.

Hevesi Advisor Sentenced to Prison

A longtime advisor to ex-New York state comptroller Alan Hevesi was sentenced to a maximum of four years in prison for his role in a kickback scheme involving the state's multibillion dollar pension fund.
