In addition to her Tony award-winning role in The Wiz (1975), she has performed in shows including Sophisticated Ladies, Cabaret, and Lady Day. She’s also worked with jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, and Horace Silver. This week, Bridgewater shares her renditions of “God Bless the Child” and “Good Morning Heartache.”
