Dennis M. Walcott ended his five borough, first-day-of-school chancellor marathon at Susan E. Wagner High School on Staten Island. Along the way, in response to questions from students, he sprinkled details of his life: what he likes to read, the jobs he held, his days of touch football. He heard from parents with environmental concerns and student government leaders, who inspired a new idea that ended his day.

Bloomberg Doubts If Gehry's WTC Hall Will Ever Get Built

Beekman Tower: Now Glistening to the Very Top

Frank Gehry's design for the Beekman Tower in Lower Manhattan elicited a wide range of responses when its designs were circulated two years ago. Among them: Just how will the shiny steel surface fit in among lower Manhattan's stone towers?

While the building is still several months away from completion, the stainless steel siding appeared to have reached the top of the 76 floors this week, giving passersby a chance to assess it.
