Yesterday, the United States Postal Service released a list of 3,653 post offices it will be reviewing and could potentially close because of low activity and workload. Most of these threatened branches are in rural areas of the United States.

East Village Bar Closes Due to Health Code Violations

The Mars Bar closed its doors on Tuesday due to New York City health code violations. But even if it cleans up its act, the watering hole will not re-open on the block any time soon due to a developer's plans to demolish the existing structure and rebuild it as an apartment building.

Borders Could Close Book Stores as soon as Friday

It looks like the final chapter for Borders, the Michigan-based big-box book, music and media seller. The company could begin closing its remaining 399 stores, five of which are in New York City, as early as Friday.

Inside the Final Day at the Wonder Bread Factory in Queens

The Wonder Bread factory in Jamaica, Queens is stopping production after 130 years and laying off 175 workers. The Interstate Bakeries Corp., parent company of that makes the white bread based foods like Wonder Bread, and Hostess Twinkies has said modernizing the plant is too costly.
