For this New Sounds, hear some music from violinist/composer Jenny Scheinman, along with something new from violinist Carla Kihlstedt & percussionist/keyboardist Matthias Bossi.  These two, Kihlstedt & Bossi, have a new record of music for dance, Still You Lay Dreaming: Tales for the Stage, II, a companion album to their 2009 release, Ravish, and Other Tales for the Stage.  Also, indie chamber music from Clogs, and chamber folk from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra (not to be confused with the newly-formed "Penguin Cafe," which features founding member Simon Jeffes' son, Arthur.)

We'll hear works that exist at the juncture of art song and pop song on this New Sounds. There's music from Clogs, who have lately become purveyors of vocal chamber pop, with additions of singers from the indie rock world. There's also a brilliant collection of new work from Corey Dargel, a Texas-born, Brooklyn based composer, who impishly crafts classical pop song cycles. Plus, music by Natalie Merchant, Alex Cline, Brian Dewan, and David Sylvian.

For this New Sounds, listen to new songs by Clogs who have borrowed voices from the indie rock world for their latest record, "The Creatures In the Garden of Lady Walton."  It’s a song cycle, written by violinist and singer Padma Newsome, featuring guest appearances from Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond, the National's Matt Berninger, and from Sufjan Stevens.
