New Releases, April 2012
Monday, April 30, 2012
It's that time of the month again for the new releases show on New Sounds. John Schaefer carefully sorts through the stacks, bins, and towers of new CDs, records, and bandcamp sites which have come across his desk or into his email over the past month to present some choice cuts. We hope to hear from Amadou & Miriam, BMOP and Evan Ziporyn, and the local Brooklyn outfit Choban Elektrik, as well as a host of other choice recordings.

Orchestra of the 21st Century
Saturday, March 31, 2012
For this New Sounds, we'll focus on the orchestra of the 21st Century. Chances are this orchestra is a bit leaner and more versatile than a 100 member-plus symphony orchestra and most likely includes electric and/or electronic instruments. We'll hear many examples, including Alarm Will Sound, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) and Sujian Stevens' The BQE Project, a work for a quirky symphony orchestra. And more.

Listener Poll Show for 2010
Thursday, January 06, 2011
Here's the rebuttal to last night’s program where the listeners weigh in on the best new music releases of 2010. First off, a big thank you to all of the listeners who voted! We found that there were some hard-fought battles this year between well-waged Facebook (and other social media) campaigns and other organized mailing list calls-to-action. However, we have a clear front-runner, with some unexpected and predictable results. The voting closed at noon today. Tonight's 25th annual New Sounds Listener Poll show will contain the music that emerged victorious from this year's contest.
