It's the most wonderful time of the year... because for the last few days, we've been listening back to the most memorable live sessions that were recorded in the Soundcheck studio in 2012. The competition was fierce this year -- but we think we've assembled two great shows.
Be sure to listen to yesterday's show here. Today, we hear from singer and pianist extraordinaire Regina Spektor, modern jazz/R&B/hip op pianist Robert Glasper, and breakout indie Afro-pop artist Sinkane.

It's the most wonderful time of the year... because for the next two days, we get to listen back to our very favorite, most-prized live sessions that were recorded in the Soundcheck studio in 2012. And let us tell you, the competition was fierce this year. It was really a struggle to select just a small handful of performances from the dozens that were submitted by our staff. However, we think we've put together two pretty darn good shows, and we can't wait to nostalgically listen back to these performances with all of the rest of you.
So put on your Snuggie®, make yourself a cup of cocoa, and turn those speakers up. Tonight, you'll hear music from someone who sang on one of the biggest hits of the year, a founding member of the Velvet Underground, a musician from Sierra Leone who's bringing Bubu music to Brooklyn, and much more.
Listen to the entire show up above, or check out each performance individually below.

At the end of the year, I will do what everyone else in the music biz professes to hate so much, but never misses an opportunity to do: create a top-10 list of the year’s best music. Since the year’s only halfway gone, though, I’m going to limit myself to 5 current faves for now.
