For weeks, the Chris Christie campaign has played to big crowds, while Democratic challenger Barbara Buono struggles to get her message out. But Christie's handlers have limited his press time in the run-up to the election. Matt Katz — who has covered Christie for the past three years for The Philadelphia Inquirer and who will be joining the staff of New Jersey Public Radio next week — has some theories about why.

One covers the news for the web site, Planet Princeton - the other is a freshman working for the student radio station at Montclair State University.

Over the past couple of weeks, they broke stories that were later picked up around the state. The first has to do with a parking scandal in Princeton. The next involves the heckler who disrupted the second and final debate between governor Christie and State Senator Barbara Buono.
