TC Students Signal Discontent in Peaceful Protest at Graduation

At the graduation ceremony for Teachers College, a group of students and faculty protested the awarding of an honor to Merryl Tisch, chancellor of New York State Board of Regents, because of her support for standardized testing. TC granted the honor to Tisch for her years of service advocating for the state's public school systems.

At Chelsea Career H.S., Worries About How to Get the Job Done

With $58 million in federal grant money still in suspension until the city can reach a deal on a teacher evaluation system for its struggling schools, the principal at Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School in Soho, Brian Rosenbloom, wonders how he is going to get the money to continue his efforts to raise attendance and graduation rates, among other goals.
