Scores of street photographers document city life on any given day, one shot at a time. Meet six who are practicing and redefining a uniquely New York art form dating back to the days of Weegee the Famous — and post your own street photography in the Streets Shots Challenge.
David Horvitz brings his camera with him whenever he goes. Sometimes he has a destination, sometimes his Internet audience will ask him to go somewhere - and sometimes he just wanders. David Horvitz isn't sure if he finds his photos or if his photos find him.

The winner of WNYC's Street Shots Challenge is 50-year-old self-taught photographer Joe Wigfall. Contest judge Luc Sante calls Wigfall's sensibilities Rembrandtesque. You can see Wigfall's work and work from other participants in The Street Shots Challenge at our gallery opening July 10, 7-9 p.m.

WNYC Radio and our contest judge Luc Sante are pleased to announce the winner of the Street Shots Challenge: Joe Wigfall.
“Joe Wigfall combines psychological acuity with impeccable composition–on the fly, of course–and a deep, virtually Rembrandt-etching feeling for tonality. Mr. Wigfall knows his people intimately–you sense that he finds a bit of himself in every one of his subjects. In addition, there’s a mystery in every shot, something left unresolved that works on our imaginations.”
-Luc Sante, Street Shots judge
