Yeshivas Probe Faces Political Heft of Hasidic Community

Although New York City education officials are investigating claims that students at dozens of hasidic yeshivas receive inadequate instruction in English and math instruction, advocates are skeptical much will change.

The ultra-orthodox communities in the city and state are powerful political entities, and elected officials seek favor with them to secure their votes at election time.

In partnership with The Jewish Week, we take a closer look at why city and state officials may be reluctant to crack down.
