Gun rights supporters hold signs and listen to former Republican congressional candidate from Utah, Mia Love, speak at a gun rights rally and march at the Utah State Capitol in 3/13 in Salt Lake City.

Dennis Henigan, director of legal and policy analysis at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and formerly vice president of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, discusses his book, Guns Don’t Kill People, People Kill People: And Other Myths About Gun Control, which dispels ideas perpetuated by the gun lobby including; ”The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” and “Gun control doesn’t work because criminals don’t follow the law.” He also draws from current data and research to illustrate the reality of gun violence in the U.S.

Event: Dennis will be participating in The New York City Smart Gun Symposium on Tuesday, August 2nd from 11-2:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn). It’s co-sponsored by NYAGV (New Yorkers Against Gun Violence) and the group Washington Cease Fire.
