What's Next for Activist and Congressman Keith Ellison?

The Leonard Lopate Show | Feb 27, 2017

New Yorker staff writer Vinson Cunningham joins us to discuss his latest article, “The Protest Candidate.” (Online: “Will Keith Ellison Move the Democrats Left?”), which profiles Keith Ellison, the Minnesota congressman who ran for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee. Ellison, the first Muslim to be elected to the U.S. Congress and an early and fervent supporter of Bernie Sanders' Presidential campaign, hopes to lead the populist movement against Donald Trump. Cunningham looks at Ellison’s career, and what his political role, despite having lost the chairmanship, will be moving forward.
