Weekend Staff Picks: Kids, Cats & Cappuccinos

Saturday, April 26, 2014

Here are some of the events our WNYC colleagues are checking out around town this weekend.

MARC GARBER, news host: Marc has tickets for Lincoln Center Theater's premiere of the play The City of Conversation by Anthony Giardina and directed by Doug Hughes. Set in 1979 Washington D.C., this drama explores family and politics and what it means to be liberal or conservative.

MAGGY DONALDSON, news intern: Journalism and French studies at NYU bring Maggy to New York City via Wisconsin and she's planning a must-do for New Yorkers: a Sunday afternoon baseball game at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.

KAT AARON, associate producer, Transportation Nation: As a fan of the Brooklyn based artist Swoon, Kat is planning a visit to the Brooklyn Museum for her installation Submerged Motherlands. Swoon's signature paper portraits and intricately cut prints take on social and historical issues and events.

KATE HINDS, reporter, Transportation Nation: Kate is famous in the newsroom for her passion for cats. And she found out a pop-up shop at 168 Bowery in Manhattan called the Cat Cafe and yes, you can enjoy a cappuccino while playing with a feline friend. Check out the live stream of the Cat Cafe if you don't believe Kate.
