Jason Marsalis Quartet @ Jazz Standard (New York, NY) - Monday evening, drummer Jason Marsalis (the youngest Marsalis) takes the Jazz Standard stage. Marsalis will be on vibraphone performing work from his new project, In a World of Mallets. Doors at 9:30

Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood @ SFJazz Center (San Francisco, CA) - Fans of The Jonathan Channel surely know (and love) the legendary jazz guitarist, John Scofield. Tuesday evening he joins the organ trio Medeski, Martin and Wood for an evening of jazz: ranging from the traditional to avant-garde. Jose James @ SF Jazz Center (San Francisco, CA) - This year marks the 75th anniversary of the jazz label Blue Note Records. The label is thriving and has it's roster of young artists to thank. New York Times critic Ben Ratliff described the soulful voice of the Brooklyn jazz-vocalist Jose James as, "a romantic baritone with a deep-funk band...evoking..'70s Roberta Flack & Gil Scott-Heron.." Check him out Wednesday evening. Doors at 7:30.

Paquito D'Rivera @ Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola (New York, NY) - Head uptown for a night of Latin jazz with Grammy-award winning composer, alto saxophonist & clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera. D'Rivera's contribution to jazz is signifigant, but he is also an acclaimed classical composer. Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola will celebrate D'Rivera's wide range of material in the series: Jazz Meets the Classics. Tuesday thru Thursday

Barbara Levy & Houston Person @ Metropolitan Room (New York, NY) Legendary jazz performer meets legendary jazz performer Wendesday night at The Metropolitan Room. Jazz vocalist Barbara Levy Daniels and tenor saxaphonist Houston Person will perform work from their latest project. Doors open at 9PM.

Karrin Allyson @ Blues Alley Jazz (Washington, DC) - This week, four-time Grammy nominated jazz vocalist, Karrin Allyson will be stopping in at Blues Alley. Hailed by The New York Times as "one of the jazz world's finest", Allyson is sure to please with her smooth vocal stylings. Thursday thru Saturday.

Diana Krall @ Jazz Aspen Show Mass (Aspen, CO) If you're headed to Aspen for the city's jazz festival, make sure to catch three-time Grammy award winning Canadian jazz pianist & vocalist Diana Krall. She is a "citizen of jazz" and adds a modern twist to the jazz standards you know and love. She's on stage Friday evening @ 8:30.
