Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood @ SFJazz Center (San Francisco, CA) - Fans of The Jonathan Channel surely know (and love) the legendary jazz guitarist, John Scofield. Tuesday evening he joins the organ trio Medeski, Martin and Wood for an evening of jazz: ranging from the traditional to avant-garde. Jose James @ SF Jazz Center (San Francisco, CA) - This year marks the 75th anniversary of the jazz label Blue Note Records. The label is thriving and has it's roster of young artists to thank. New York Times critic Ben Ratliff described the soulful voice of the Brooklyn jazz-vocalist Jose James as, "a romantic baritone with a deep-funk band...evoking..'70s Roberta Flack & Gil Scott-Heron.." D'Rivera's contribution to jazz is signifigant, but he is also an acclaimed classical composer. Barbara Levy & Houston Person @ Metropolitan Room (New York, NY) Legendary jazz performer meets legendary jazz performer Wendesday night at The Metropolitan Room.
