Joey DeFrancesco Organ Quartet @ Birdland (New York, NY) - Organist Joey DeFrancesco has played with an impressive list of greats: Ray Charles, John Scofield, Jimmy Cobb - the list goes on and on. Beginning Wednesday evening, he and his quartet (with special guest George Coleman) begin a week long run at Birdland. Two shows each night 8:30 and 11PM. http://www.birdlandjazz.com/

The Gil Evans Project @ The Jazz Standard (New York, NY) - Jazz scholar and conductor Ryan Truesdell, will return to the Jazz Standard for a week of music from the Gil Evans canon. Wednesday through Sunday, Truesdell & his big band will be recording a live album for release via Blue Note/ArtistShare. You can expect a week of previously unrecorded work, alongside classic Gil Evans arrangements. http://www.jazzstandard.com/

Ted Rosenthal Trio @ Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola (New York, NY) - Wednesday night, head uptown for Ted Rosenthal Trio's album release party for their new work, Rhapsody in Gershwin. The new record contains the trio's arrangements of Gershwin songs (including Rhapsody in Blue, of course). Ted Rosenthal Trio: Rosenthal (piano), Martin Wind (bass) & Tim Horner (drums). The Music of Cole Porter @ The Appel Room (New York, NY) - The music of Cole Porter comes to life Wednesday evening in The Big Apple. Master interpreter of the Great American Songbook Michael Feinstein leads a tribute to Cole Porter. Feinstein will be joined by performers: Denzal Sinclair, Marilyn Maye, Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks + Kate Davis. A night of not-to-miss performances. http://jalc.org/

On Tour: Jane Monheit @ Jazz at the Bistro (St. Louis, MO) - This week, catch jazz vocalist Jane Monheit in St. Louis, touring with work from her new record, The Heart of The Matter. Monheit will be installed at the club, Jazz at the Bistro, Wednesday-Sunday. New York Hot Jazz Festival (New York, NY) - A weekend of pre-swing era jazz? Absolutely. Clear your Sunday schedule for the 2nd Annual New York Hot Jazz Festival. A great line-up the list of performers include: Catherine Russell, Ken Peplowski's New Swing, Louis Armstrong Eternity Band + more. Kate McGarry @ Rockland Center for the Arts (West Nyack, NY) - Grammy-nominated vocalist Kate McGarry is a favorite at The Jonathan Channel. Her latest project, Genevieve & Ferdinand is a collaboration with her husband and guitarist Keith Ganz. Saturday night, McGarry and Ganz will perform work from their new album which The Jazz Times calls, "a sublime partnernship".
