The Way Forward After Louisiana, Minnesota and Dallas

The Takeaway | Jul 8, 2016

In the last 72 hours, two black men who were licensed gun owners were killed by police and then five police officers were killed in Dallas. "This is America in a nutshell," says author and professor Michael Eric Dyson.

"We have extraordinarily competing visions of who we are as a nation, we have unfocused anger and rage against the problems that confront us and we need political figures to clarify and not muddy the waters," Dyson says.

Dyson is a professor at Georgetown University and the author of The Black Presidency. He also wrote "What White America Fails to See" in The New York Times on July 7.
